Mariko Fukui 福井 麻里子

Mariko Fukui was born in Hyogo and raised in Osaka, Japan. At the age of six, her family's home was destroyed in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. This experience led her to question her purpose: "As a survivor, what value can I create for the world?" This early reflection has strongly shaped her passion and dedication to her work, driving her commitment to creating value and positive impact through technology and communication.
She graduated from Doshisha University with a degree in Sociology and later completed her master's in Global Studies. She further enhanced her expertise in branding and sustainability at emLyon Business School in France.
Her career in PR and communications began at the Hakuhodo Group company OZMA PR, followed by a role at the digital marketing firm. She then worked for launching and business development for a Japanese recruitment company's Singapore branch.
In 2013, she founded Aalto International in Singapore, later establishing the company's headquarters in Kyoto in 2014, then branch office in Europe in 2016. Her work focuses on global branding and communication strategies in mobility, electronics and energy industry.
Recognizing the shortage of global talents and entrepreneurship in Japan, she lectures at universities and business schools on topics such as entrepreneurship and international business development.
From her base in Kyoto, she continues to foster global collaboration from not only business but also academic perspectives. She is working on research at Kyoto University's Graduate School of Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability (GSAIS), focusing on renewable energy industries and regional revitalization.
